Creating Balance, Story and Visual Impact Every beautiful card tells a story before a single word is read. In this workshop you'll learn how to arrange individual elements so they work together to guide the viewer's eye, create depth and evoke emotion. Rather than simply placing embellishments where they fit, you'll discover how thoughtful composition transforms a collection of die cuts into a cohesive piece of art. Working across a variety of themes, we'll explore the design principles behind successful card layouts and develop techniques that can be applied to almost any project. Workshop Themes Landscapes Still Life Floral Scenes Masculine Themes Each project examines how composition changes depending on the subject while still following the same fundamental design principles. Learning Outcomes By the end of this workshop participants will be able to: Outcomes Identify the natural focal point of a card. Distinguish between primary, secondary and supporting elements. Create backgrounds that enhance rather than compete with the design. Use colour to establish mood, balance and visual flow. Arrange elements to guide the viewer's eye naturally across the project. Create depth through layering, overlap and spacing. Recognise when a design is complete—and when less really is more. Build cohesive compositions from a collection of unrelated die cuts and embellishments.
