My Journey
My card craft journey began at an unexpected time. After major illness, I found myself in recovery, searching for something to lift my spirits and keep my hands busy. One day, while watching YouTube, I stumbled across a video of someone using crackle paint on cardstock. I thought they were crazy — until I saw the result. I was hooked.
I’d always wanted to be creative but could never find the spark. I wasn’t confident with colours or patterns, and I couldn’t draw a straight line with a ruler. Card crafting changed everything. As I experimented, I discovered a new side of myself — blending shades, combining colours, and building scenes that came alive.
Each card became a canvas, and with every creation, my confidence grew.
What began as curiosity quickly grew into a passion, and eventually, Michael’s Card Art was born. Now I pour my heart into every piece, hoping to inspire others the way I was inspired. Each card is a reminder that beauty can come from unexpected places — and that creativity has the power to heal and transform.
Life is my canvas.
My cards are the colours I choose to paint it.

I find inspiration in moments — shifting skies, garden textures, old architecture, and the quiet beauty of handmade detail. I’m naturally tactile, so I’m drawn to layered 3D card art that invites touch. I look for texture and “temperature” in a design — the feeling of soft, rough, smooth, aged or bright. For me, the process becomes something I can almost feel as it’s being created, and that’s what makes each piece so personal. While dimension is often at the heart of my work, I also love creating 2D pieces with fewer layers and simpler colouring. These designs offer a calmer, more minimal finish — a different kind of beauty that still celebrates craftsmanship and detail.
