This week my desk has been filled with soft woodland tones and layered storytelling. This framed piece grew organically, starting with a gentle, textured background and slowly building into a lush arrangement of florals, ferns and whimsical mushrooms. I love how the blush pink blooms anchor the design, while the earthy greens and warm browns create a sense of depth and quiet movement. The finishing touch — a delicate sentiment tag tied with gold thread and sealed with a wax embellishment — gives the piece a timeless, almost keepsake feel.
Project highlight
This piece celebrates layering as an art form. Every element has been hand-cut, shaped and positioned to create dimension and flow, drawing the eye from the florals through to the woodland details. It’s a reminder that greeting cards can be more than a message — they can be framed moments of calm, beauty and intention.
Technique tip
When working with multiple die-cut layers, lightly ink the edges of each element before assembling. This simple step softens transitions between layers and adds instant depth, helping each piece stand out without overpowering the overall design.
